General
How does Accept Guardian work?
Accept Guardian runs in the background as you browse. When you visit a page that contains a Terms & Conditions agreement, cookie banner, or consent form, the extension scans the text for known risky clauses — such as broad data collection, waiving legal rights, or automatic subscription renewals.
If a risk is detected, a warning badge or modal appears so you can make an informed decision before clicking "Accept."
Which websites does it work on?
Accept Guardian works on all websites. It automatically activates whenever it detects a consent-related element on the page. No configuration is needed — just install the extension and browse normally.
Does the extension slow down my browsing?
No. Accept Guardian is designed to be lightweight. Scans run locally in your browser using a pre-loaded set of rules — no network requests are made during page scanning. The only outbound network activity is an optional daily analytics summary sent in the background.
Privacy & Data
What data does Accept Guardian collect?
Accept Guardian collects only anonymized, non-personal usage statistics:
- A randomly generated installation ID (not linked to your identity)
- Extension version number
- Counts of scans, warnings shown, and actions taken
- Timestamp of the report
No personal data, browsing history, URLs, or page content is ever collected. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I reset my analytics data?
Your analytics are tied to a randomly generated installation ID stored locally in your browser. To reset it, simply uninstall Accept Guardian from Chrome and reinstall it — a new installation ID will be generated automatically.
To uninstall: go to chrome://extensions, find Accept Guardian, and click Remove.
Does Accept Guardian read my passwords or form data?
No. Accept Guardian only scans visible consent-related text on web pages (such as cookie banners and terms agreements). It never reads passwords, form inputs, financial information, or any other sensitive data.
