Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 31, 2026
Overview
Accept Guardian is a Chrome extension designed to help you browse the web more safely. Protecting your privacy is fundamental to how this extension works. This policy explains exactly what data is collected, how it is used, and what is never collected.
What we collect
Accept Guardian collects only anonymized, non-personal usage statistics to help improve the extension. This data includes:
- A randomly generated installation ID (a UUID with no link to your identity)
- Extension version number
- Counts of scans performed, warnings shown, and user actions taken
- Timestamp of the report submission
This data cannot be used to identify you. It contains no names, email addresses, IP addresses, browsing history, or any other personally identifiable information.
What we never collect
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- Your IP address or location
- Your browsing history or visited URLs
- Passwords, form inputs, or financial information
- Any data about the content of specific web pages you visit
How data is used
Anonymized analytics are used solely to understand aggregate extension usage patterns, such as how often scans are performed or how frequently warnings are triggered. This helps us identify bugs and improve the extension's effectiveness.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties. Analytics data is stored securely using Netlify Blobs and is accessible only to the extension developer. No data is transferred to advertising networks, analytics services, or any external parties.
Data storage and retention
Anonymized analytics records are stored on Netlify's infrastructure. Records are keyed by installation ID only and contain no personal information. You can reset your installation ID at any time by uninstalling and reinstalling the extension.
Local storage
The extension stores preferences and local safety data in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device unless it is part of the anonymized analytics described above.
Permissions
Accept Guardian requests only the permissions necessary to fulfill its core purpose (scanning pages for unsafe content and displaying warnings). No permissions are used to collect personal data.
Changes to this policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
